“…Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30
We are all called to praise and worship the Lord our God. To know Him is to love Him and to worship Him is to have fellowship with Him. Music is such a wonderful and powerful way to express our love and reverence to our creator and our redeemer, but sometimes we underestimate it, or for other people, they’re not even aware of it.
To praise and worship the Lord through songs is a win-win scenario, there’s nothing to lose! We win over current dilemmas and life’s issues, and we win over the enemy. The devil knows this and he will do anything to stop and discourage us.
‘Oh I feel so guilty with sin I couldn’t worship and sing’ ‘Oh I’m just going through so much and burdened with problems, I feel heaviness in my heart that I don’t have the strength to sing praises to the Lord’.......
These are just some of the lies that the enemy puts in our mind and our hearts, so we have to constantly remind ourselves that the devil is a liar. If we know the truth that nothing can separate us from God’s love, that Jesus Christ has finished the job on the cross, that the battle is already won and we are overcomers and now sit in the heavenly places with Him, then what’s stopping us from opening our mouths and praising Him! Yes, it takes faith to be a true worshipper, and to have a stronger faith means to exercise it daily by worshipping and singing songs of praise to our Savior!
As Christians, when we face tribulations in our life, we ‘out-talk’ the enemy by speaking the word of God which is powerful and living and sharper than any two-edged sword. I do believe that it is more powerful to ‘out-sing’ the devil in praise and worship. We don’t have to be professional singers and musicians, for it is not the music itself but what is in our hearts. When we used to be in the world, we enjoyed music which were shallow and superficial in meaning. No matter how many times we sing or play these songs, will there be any changes in our lives? If only all the songs were written to give glory to our God, then the world will never be the same again. When God touches our lives, like He did to me, I became thirsty for His word and I couldn’t contain the overwhelming greatness of my Savior that I couldn’t help but sing to Him. Over and over again, I would sing songs of who He is, His goodness, His faithfulness, His eternal love for me, His mercy… we could go on and on and yet all the words and all these songs cannot surpass His greatness. Did it bring any change in my life? Yes of course and most of these changes can’t be found anywhere else. Peace, Strength, Joy, Love And a clear understanding of the purpose for my life. So if you’re looking for these things, if you think you’re in darkness, or you feel weak and confused seek God, know Him, trust in Him, worship and sing to Him! don't wait until you are thru with your problems to worship. you can worship all the way through your problems.
To God be the glory, forever and ever!
